Odd bits April 2001 Vol.4 - side B. The other side with the rest of the Radioactive Man mix from the Breezeblock and a Paul Thomas mix from One World (dated 14.09.01)
Just a random snippet of Peel found on a tape. Probably belongs on the Peel sound archive. Does that still exist? Anyone want to point me in the right direction?
A nice DJ set. Not sure it's all here. I'll have to dig out some more Breezeblock stuff. As much as I like Mary Anne Hobbs show now it was something special back in the days when it was the Breezeblock.
Side A of a very short cassette that I made of this gig. It's dated 13/04/96 and I think Sound City was a Radio 1 thing. This is vintage Orbital. Tracklists gratefully received as usual....
The One World show on Radio One started life as a fantastic thing. Guest mixes, little in the way of chat and great music. Kind of like the Essential Mix but with less dance and more hip hop/electronica/ambient/wierd stuff. It turned shit eventually, as most shows on radio one usually do, first drowning itself in post-rock nonsense and then turning away from dance-based genres completely and playing indie and folktronica until the show was ditched. Rather the way that The Blue Room went as well...
Anyhow, here is a great mix from producer extraordinaire Pete Rock.
