Collaboration

I have moments of uploading loads to this site (usually spacing them out over a few months so you don't get a glut of stuff all at once) but I'm aware that the audio gems are too few and far between. Also this blog needs it's own domain and a proper Wordpress setup. I don't really have time with all my other projects so what I'm looking for is someone with a 'proper' blog setup that I can join as an occasional contributor. Anyone know a blog that has a similar ethos to mine (mainly cassettes, mainly stuff not ever commercialy available)? Would be best for everyone - more music, bigger audience.

Select Magazine - Creation Tape - B

A selection of things from the creation label. I've just upped on track here for the benefit of any KLF completists out there.

One of the few musical heroes I have left that hasn't dissapointed me is Bill Drummond. This is a track from him called "The Manager's Speech" from when he was managing Zodiac Mindwarp. It's a good listen and covers some of the same ground as Dan Le Sac and Scroobius Pip.

NME - Mighty Reel - side B

The Cabaret Voltaire track is a bit of a gem. Never been much of a fan before, but that made me sit up and take notice!

B7 Fun Boy Three - The Alibi 3:00
B8 Cabaret Voltaire - Loosen The Clamp 5:10

NME - Mighty Reel - side A

The age of this tape shows. It won't even play all the way through which is the reason you only get a chunk of it (the usual reason is impatience with shite tracks!).

The Kid Creole tune is great and the Brother D track (misnamed, it's actually "How we gonna make this black nation rise?") is a slightly different version than I've heard before.

A3 Kid Creole & The Coconuts - Loving You Made A Fool Out Of Me (Spanish Rap)
A4 Weekend - A Day In The Life Of ... 3:40
A5 Music From Soweto / Elfas Zondi - Umkumbane 2:45
A6 Brother "D"* With Collective Effort - Dib-Be-Dib-Be-Dize 5:25

Vox magazine - Radio On! - B

A tape of live Radio One recordings. Sleeve didn't carry much information which is a shame as it would have been interesting to know where/when certain tracks were from. The Orb track is certainly an interesting release and ends with a spirited rendition of "I do like to be beside the seaside"!

B1 Shamen, The - L.S.I.
B4 Orb, The - Into The 4th Dimension

NME - Department Of Enjoyment - A

A tape from 1984. Interesting the stuff that the NME thought was cool from these old tapes. Seems to have taken a lead from Peel and Kershaw - mostly alternative with a bit of reggae, a bit of world music and a bit of hip hop. The Orange Juice track is interestingly produced by the legendary Dennis Bovell.

A2 Smiths, The - Girl Afraid 2:50
A3 Orange Juice - A Place In My Heart Dub Mix 2 2:22

Side B of this tape has probably my favourite Goldie song from his debut album. Beautiful.

B2 Goldie - State Of Mind 7:05
B3 Menswe@r - 125 West 3rd Street 3:05

Select magazine - Unheard pleasures - A

More exclusives from Select magazine. This is the only official release for the Prodigy track featured. I remember the mag itself as not very interesting but it seems I collected more tapes from there than almost any other publication. I may have forwarded through a couple of the less exciting tracks!

A1	Prodigy, The -	Break & Enter (Live At Bristol Sound City)	5:45
A2	Ash -	Kung Fu	2:23
A3	Skunk Anansie -	Intellectualize My Blackness	3:35
A4	Empirion -	Quark (Remix)	5:48
A5	Therapy? -	Stories	2:57
A6	Echobelly -	Go Away	2:42
A7	Happy Mondays -	Hallelujah (Deadstock Remix)

Jeremy Hardy - Speaks to the nation #4

How to meet the challenge of the 21st century

Jeremy Hardy - Speaks to the nation #3

How to have a baby

Jeremy Hardy - Speaks to the nation #2

How to be a popular figure round town

Jeremy Hardy - Speaks to the nation #1

I don't think I've put up any comedy here before but it's probably just chance - I've got quite a bit in my cassette collection ready to be ripped. Jeremy Hardy Speaks to the Nation was a running series on Radio 4. You might know him from his appearances on the News Quiz but he's been going for longer than that and as far as I'm concerned, he's a genius.

How to be a father - part 2

Ubiquity mix

From the One World show on Radio 1. Any details...... etc../......

Shorterz 99 - Enigma Groove (Ripgroove Dubstep Mix)

Another Bigger than Barry freebie! This time an old garage track is put through the ringer. Devastating!

Shorterz Pimps - Spin Spin Enigma

A fantastic dubsteppish tune on the Bigger than Barry label. Have been a fan of this track for a while (and looking for a decent download!) and now they've released it for free and are actively encouraging people to spread it around the web. More than happy to oblige!

DJ Muro - Diggin in the crates

Side B of the third installment of the master Muro's dip into breaks. The idea of sample-spotting mixtapes seems passe (and a bit masturbatory) now, and indeed Muro concentrates on the recognisable to the detrement of retaining a standard in the music included. Nevertheless, we loved it at the time it came out and it's still a pretty good listen now.
